Allan Sterling – Australia –
The jacket arrived Friday afternoon having originally been scheduled for Wednesday.
I am delighted with the finished jacket. It was worth the wait. It fits beautifully. I have checked all of the specifications and they have all been delivered as per the design brief as far as practicable. The only two minor criticisms are that the flames the collar badge are flat whereas they should be three-dimensional and on the design brief I mentioned the height of 0.25 inch. The gold cord around the base of the collar is slightly up a couple of millimetres, particularly noticeable on the right side, but this does not detract when the jacket is worn and, in any case, detachable cap lines will go around the base of the collar anyway.
We have nailed the pattern for the Victorian era RHA/VHA captains’ jacket, and from which we can easily obtain the pattern for the lieutenant’s jacket by simplifying page 3.
I will come back to you about the lieutenants’ jackets in the next week or so.
Thank you for your perseverance on this important historical project for the State of Victoria.
Capt.(LF) Allan Sterling, JP
